A New Age Approach to Financial Independence

Namaste… right?

Ok, so I know you probably have only heard the word “namaste” if you went to a yoga class or some kind of meditation circle, right? Well, since everything is going “new age” and metaphysical it has become the popular thing to say.  If that is not the phrase that you hear when you meet someone, then they usually say something like “greetings” or “blessings” or whatever.. you get the point.  The problem with all of this conversational smoochin’ is that nobody really believes that “the divine in them acknowledges/recognizes the divine in you,” which is what namaste is supposed to mean, or something like that. If people really did believe this, then the majority of us would be living different lives because we would understand the power and benefit in working together, strength in numbers, and a thing called interdependence.

Considering the way the economy is heading, you would think that this togetherness would have already taken form, but apparently not.  Americans are a gluten for torture thru lack of welfare.  You will hear people complaining about not having a job, or being overworked and underpaid, not having a retirement plan, unemployment benefits getting terminated, having to work two jobs, lay offs, etc.  Unfortunately, because people are creatures of habit, they very seldom look outside of traditional measures to making a living.  It is like the majority of Americans are convinced there is only ONE WAY to make money.  It is a shame and it is pitiful.

In the late 90s, we had the dot com gold rush.  There were several young teenagers that become millionaires, there were thousands of companies that increased their revenues by the millions, the work from home market expanded,  entrepreneurs became richer with advertising solutions for business world wide, affiliate marketing became a steady way of life, freelancing experienced an increase like never before. Yet, in the midst of these changes and all of these companies and individuals that have made millions, you still have hundreds of thousands of Americans that are skeptical to making money outside of working the traditional way:  in an office building.

Looking past tradition (because I know I can run with that one for a long time), my focus is on the fact that Americans are not as community (common unity) minded as they think.  Let me ask you this simple question, when you hear about another person’s misfortune, albeit family or friend, what do you do?  You might feel sorry for them for a while, maybe you even loan them a couple of bucks, perhaps you say a prayer for their situation to change, right? And then what is the next thing you do?  Depending on how honest you are with yourself right about now, most of you carry on with your everyday responsibility praying that you don’t end up like such and such.   This is really wack!  We don’t think about helping people until WE are down on our luck.  And that is just how it is. ( This is for the majority of course and for you true humanitarians – keep on doing whatcha doing!)

We are at a point where the economy is crashing, and if you think there is a quick fix to our situation, baby think again.  How long is it going to take for YOU the one that is in a funky financial situation to wake up and YOU the person who is NOT in a funky financial situation to wake up? Yes – you are included!

When you consider the possibilities of solutions that are truly available to you, you will realize that nobody is to blame for our situation but us.  The company that won’t hire you is not to blame, the president is not to blame, the government is not to blame, just simply Y-O-U.  Each and everyone one of you are to blame because you lack the courage to get past your fears.  You let these corporations bully you around.  You go along with what you have been trained to believe is the “right” way to make money.  You don’t feel any type of social responsibility to connect and build with your neighbors, family, or friends.  You will not survive alone.  This isn’t a doomsday message, this is a wake up call telling you to snap out of your zombie state of mind and to take more responsibility for changing your situation.

It is time that you look past 5 minutes in front of you.  You are the only one keeping you from achieving any sort of financial freedom.  It begins with your thoughts and beliefs – negative and limited, fears, resentments, and pains about cost of living expenses, raising your children, college tuition and more. Sometimes the things you have prayed for God to help you with, come to you in a different package.  It is up to you to unwrap it and to see how it works.

Stay tuned for upcoming posts that have step by step instructions on helping you to get past those things that are holding you back and how to REALLY manifest your needs, wants, and desires.
